We were on weekend trip and craving for Korean food. Tried this plan and we were so glad we did!
We ordered Cow tongue, pork belly and seafood pancake.
Everything were good. Meats are soft and fatty as just I expected. People there are very nice and tried to help us when we were grilling. It's fairly priced. I would go back next time I am in town! -

88 Garden was fine. I was quite surprised how empty this place was at 6 pm on a weeknight. That being said, the food is quite good, and their portion sizes are bigger than most places I've been to. Their banchan selection was also a bit more varied than some other Korean spots.
I opted for the tonkatsu, which was huge. Multiple slices of fried pork served with rice and a deliciously savory dipping sauce. While other Korean places I've visited have had a sweeter sauce (either ponzu or plum sauce) this was surprisingly smoky, almost like a BBQ or steak sauce.
Pretty good, but not my favorite. B -

88 Garden came highly recommended from several friends and I understand why. While the place is a little run down, I can tell the owner is committed to cleanliness. Eating here felt like eating at a friend's house. The food was soulful and satisfying...Korean home cooking at its best.
Since this was our first time, we decided to order a variety of food...Dak kalbi (chicken), la kalbi (short ribs), wings, mandu (dumplings) and japchae. We, of course, left with three boxes...eyes bigger than stomach. The chicken was my favorite and I could have made a meal of the bonchon. The kimchi, cucumbers, bean sprouts and daikon were my favorites.
I really enjoyed my meal here. The atmosphere and neighborhood aren't great, so not really a place you go for 'an experience', but definitely good food. -

Prehaps I'm bias because I just have a love affair with Korean food in general. Haven't been here a ton but as far as I'm concerned they're one of the best places for Korean in the area. I liked the atmosphere inside but it wasn't anything to gawk over, the outside of the building certainly isn't all that great either but neither is that area of town. Will be visiting many more times in the future and update this if necessary.

I haven't tried enough places to claim this is the best Korean in Richmond, but it is delicious (and unquestionably authentic) food and if on the pricy end for dinner, you will receive enough food for two or three people which rather averages out in your favor if you like leftovers. My personal favorite to date is the spicy pork bulgogi, which does not play around in the least but was worth every sweat drop. The entree also comes with rice (of course) and an array of kimchi and other vegetables and suchlike. I'm particularly fond of the daikon, but they're all interesting, and just about a meal in their own right. The staff is very sweet (per my friend, moreso still if you have a baby to cook over) in a rather familial way, and are always pleased to see you.
